Default Exhaust cutout VS Borla catback

Would there be any advantage to placing an exhaust cutout in the I pipe before the axle (near the merge) as opposed to just opening the cutout in the Borla itself? thanks.

I'm not sure on the Borla but I can tell you I gained 8rwhp through an open cutout with my cammed LS1 with Magnaflow cat back. My cutout is also in the intermediate pipe.

Also, I gained throughout the entire curve and lost zero torque.

I have a qtp electric cut out in my borla. Picks up a tenth in 1/4 mile.
