Re-using Cometic MLS Head Gasket
#21
As long as the block and head surface are both flat and have a good surface to them, you should be fine.
I have reused cometic MLS gaskets before when i was in a pinch. I have done it two different ways. The first time 50% of the black coating was gone, so i painted it with a semi gloss black paint. Let it dry and put them back on, sealed up and ran them for a while. (was in a hurry to make a race) I have also used the copper coat. I would recommend the copper coat spray. I simply make sure the gaskets are good clean and dry. Then spray them down with copper coat, let it dry till it is barely tacky and reinstall. They actually seal up so well this way its a pain to remove the heads, gasket, and copper coat the next time you pull the heads.
