Default How long can I let it sit

I bought my LQ4 about 6 months ago, it's just been sitting in my garage waiting to finalize the trans placement in my car, getting a trans from FLT, and getting my 243's back from TSP. Pulled the valve covers and did the Comp trunion upgrade to the stock rockers, also pulled the valley cover and replaced with an LS6.

My question is, how long is too long without running these engines? I have a cam and Katech rod bolts to put in the engine, and I really want to get them in before I start losing parts. I figure it will be maybe another 3-6 weeks before I have everything I need to start the car.

Also, when letting it sit for this long, what's the best way to prime the engine before running it? Pull injectors and coils connectors?

Thanks

mine sat for over a year. it was new though. when we fired it we just pulled the fuse and cranked it for 10 sec or so. then lit it up

My block sat for 5 months. Lubed everything down very good for the H/C Swap. Turned it over today and everthing was fine.

Cool, when I do the rod bolts, should I pull the caps off and lube the bearings? Or just act like I'm doing it in the car, and do bolt and a time.

do the rod bolts one at a time..... before you fire it up, pull coil plugs and injector lugs. crank motor for the first time long enough to get oil pressure and off. wait like 10 seconds or so and crank it again till u see oil pressure, and off again. for peace of mind you can crank engine again and let here rotate just a few seconds longer aft oil pressure is up. connect everything and fire it up!!!!!!!
