Default Should I buy these heads?

A friend of mine is a professional head porter at a well-known race engine shop. I have a bare LS1 block that needs heads. A while back, he came across a set of 241 castings that he fully ported, polished, throated, blended, etc. Serdi valve job. New Manley RaceFlo 2.020 intake valves. New Manley RaceMaster 1.575 exhaust valves. New PAC 1218 valve springs. He is asking $1000 for them.

Is this a good deal? I am trying to decide if I should buy these or get a set of CNC Patriot Performance 243's complete for $1300.

If it is not a good deal, then what would an appropriate price be?

I will be able to post flow numbers in the near future, after he flows them.

I should also add that I plan to use a 383 Callies/Mahle kit for the rotating assembly.

id imagine the cnc 243 flow more. i think its gonna come down to compression. do u need the 64cc 243 chamber to bump up compression?

He said that he will CC and mill the 241's to whatever volume I want in order to reach the desired CR.

I wouldnt spend that kind of money on a set of 241's period. Regardless of what was done to them. I'd put that $1000 towards some ported 243's. Just my. 02

I have some 243's for sale, youd be better off having a little more $ porting the 243's....that way couple months down the road your itching for more power then decide to put 243's on anyways.

I'd offer him $800 and if he didn't take that I'd go with a set of TEA ported LS6s. The best port job on a 241 will only flow as well as the stage 1 TEA LS6...maybe not even that good.
