Car must have been running like cr@p...

You'll need to remove the cam by rotating it as it comes out (so whichever lobe is passing the stuck lifter is on the base circle), then once the cam is out you can knock the lifter into the pan. Or you can make a half-round "tray" from some rollable plastic, shove it into the cam tunnel, and hope the lifter drops onto it. Or if you're feeling lucky, you can try catching it with some long needle nose pliers or a magnet.

Look throw the cam bore and see if the roller tip pin has backed out and hitting the lifter bore flange. Ive seen this happen and if your lucky the pin (roller bearing shaft) has backed out to the front of the engine , were you can take a long punch or rod and a hammer and knock the pin back in so you can remove the lifter.

Seen this happen before as well. Luckily I was able to rotate and access the lifter and tap the roller axle back into place for removal.

figured it out. the hole bottom of the lifter was broke off and made the cam get stuck. used a slide hammer tool and worked great!!! it was stock cam so it wasnt deg that way. the chain had to skip teeth, it was really loose!

thanks everyone

If you forced the lifter out, you better inspect the lifter bore very carefully.

Yeah, I'd hate to see the lifter bore now. It must have taken quite a beating.

Sometimes, a bigger hammer is *not* the answer.

It shore would be bad if a 10.00 lifter cost him a 1000.00 block + rebuild. Or even a lifter sleeve job.
