Ok so can I use the ls6 pushrods or are the 243 heads different enough to prevent me from using them?

You need aftermarket 7.425" Pushrods.
Some people use the stock Puchrods and do just fine with them.
But Id do it correct and buy the 7.425" pushrods.

Haha.. okay good point...
If you're going to have the heads off, at least mill them for a bump in compression though.

That's an option.. is it worth doing if there is nothing wrong with the heads? In the land of ethonol is it a good idea to bump compression? (don't want any issues with detonation).

It will be fine. If it were me though instead of paying to have them milled run a .040 cometic gasket. People do it on stock heads but it hurts flow. I assume you're gonna replace the gaskets anyways

also consider...after you sell your 241s you might only be out $350 or so with regard to the heads. i'd love to see a 12:1 ls6 head/cam car on e85. that is my plan when the gravy train arrives, anyhow.

Good point s346k... may have to save heads for the next time. (I can't imagine this thing will last forever.. )

Got everything in (cam, springs, lifters and pushrods)....

Head bolts, head gaskets and waterpump gasket are all that's left I think.

Thanks a ton guys!

Good deal! If you can score a deal on a used set of slp 1.85 rockers, I would add those to the list. They will provide a 10whp-18wtq gain across the power curve and power will peak a little quicker aswell.

To clarify some things, some of which were stated earlier but seem to be getting muddied again.

If you put in the 02+ LS6 cam and keep 241 heads with standard length valves you will need the 7.425" pushrods.

If you put the 02+ LS6 cam and install assembled 243 heads with the hollow / sodium valves from the C5 Z06 then you use 7.400" pushrods (LS6 pushrods and LS1 pushrods are the same).

The 02+ LS6 valve springs are good for .570" valve lift. Stock 02 LS6 cam lift is .551 on the intake with stock ratio rockers so if you put 1.85s on it you should really use a different spring since valve lift will be right under .600.

Exactly. Just reiterating since it seems the parts list has gone back and forth from 241 heads to 243s to all sorts of things

heads and combustion chamber don't make a diff,if stock and not milled. it the valve stem length that matters.using stock springs with a stock gm cam ,stock push rods will work.stock gm push rods can bend if down shifted.just get some new ls springs, every thing else is reusable.

Thanks for the posts. I'm not changing heads for this swap just the cam, springs, pushrods and gaskets.

Update: Installed the cam and springs yesterday. Took far longer than expected but it's done. First time I tried to give it gas the car fought me (bucking) after a few more times of giving it gas at various rates it smoothed out. Not sure if it had to learn the cam and didn't like it or not. So far it's running good and powerband seems different.

Thanks for the help guys.

Listen to this guy...

Unless you want to be like me and go fishing around your engine for half a push rod..

Update for this thread.

Honestly I am very happy. I think it truly needs a tune in it to run properly (car seems to run super rich and I have audible detonation past 5K).

I put in 7.425 TrickFlow Hardened pushrods and am using a Hypertech to raise my rev limiter (set to 6600rpm)... I don't tend to go up past 6300rpm as it seems to get lost up top and isn't pulling as hard as I think it should be. (seems to slow down as soon as I hear the rattling/detonation).

Normal day to day (I drive 300miles a week commute) I went from 24mpg average per tank on the stock cam to 26mpg (driving habits? or the cam profile?) and just this past sunday the car went 12.88 @ 110mph on a 2.0 60ft (actually bogged launching it from 2000rpm and not giving it enough off the line).

Once a tune is on this setup should be perfect. If you're not chasing after record 1/4 mile performance there is nothing wrong with this cam. Sure I could have something more aggressive but for the price and so far for what I've gained (power) and not lost (mpg) I don't think it can be beat.
