Default LS6 Lifter replacement

Hey everyone I got a set of new ls1 lifters I'm going to use in my motor the problem is 1 fell while I was taking it out of the box and got nicked. So I dont think I can go to gm and get an ls7 lifter because they are a little different.. However melling makes an oem replacement for an ls1 jb-2079 thats sold at various stores are these the same stylle as the original ls1/6 lifters and can i use them.

GM does not make the the LS1 lifters anymore...the LS7 lifter is the replacement lifter for all of the 3rd and 4th gen V8 engines (4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2, & 7.0) are you sure you have a set of LS1 lifters? There might be a few sets still around but I bet they are few and far between.

Nope theyre definitely ls1 lifters II've had them in a box for a few years but they are still brand new. Ya I called chevy and of course they dont have ls1 lifters any more but I'm just weary about mixing those and these lifters, thats why I was wondering if melling ones would work.

^^^Exactly thats why I dont want to mix them because I know they are different. Does anyone know who sells ls1 lifters anymore? I went on rock auto and they list the ac/delco 128 which is the ls7 lifter replacing the ls1 part number but then they also list a closeout sealed power lifter which is ht2148 is that the old style lifter?

Man, this sucks right? I just put together a 6.0 with new lifters an all, Cam that requires a 7.45 pushrod. with my heads. Now i wonder if i need to go back an measure to see if i need a 7.50 pushrod instead. Man wtf lol hope you get your answer

Alright guy I checked mine this weekend. I have the new design lifters, I had 7.45 in my car cause that is what i was told to use, I measured it an i actually need 7.425, That is why mine was so loud it was maxed out an too long a pushrod, The new style lifters are not as deep as the factory ones.. I measured several times cause i originally thought i needed longer ones. Man i was wrong. Def get a pushrod checker an check it out. Very easy to use. an only like $24bucks for one.

I ended up getting what I needed but thanks. Back when I redid the headgaskets on my ls1 i put in new lifters and I got them off of ebay from a company called gaterman up in wisconsin and they are the same design as the ls1 lifters just a little beefier around the roller for more strength but as far as the cup goes theyre identical those have been i my ls1 for 20k and have been great with stock pushrods and no valve train noise so I gave them a call and was able to get the one i needed so i'm good to go. I know the ls7 is a better design but these are brand new ones I had laying around, plus if ls1/ls6 used them for however many years theyre a fine design and these have proven themselves so far in my ls1 so im ok with using it a substitute for the one i needed.
