Default Cam install soon...intakes and TB's...

Well, when i return from my cruise in may, i will be installing a the torquer v3 cam kit from TSP in my 2000 trans am M6. Along with the cam ill be getting the ls6 ported oil pump, ls2 timing chain, and the gm cam gasket kit they sell. since i have the shitty ls1 intake, i was looking into gettin the Pro Products 101mm intake/throttle body combo with their fuel rails. They sell for $650 free shipping. Ive heard pretty good things abut the intakes since they have been revised for their fitment issuse due to the gaskets. my question is, should i just pick up a used LS6 intake and port n polish my throttle body to save some cash? or just pull the trigger on the pro products set up.. will there be much of a difference going to a 101mm vs whatever mm the LS6 is? just trying to weigh my options here.. and also a FAST setup is way out of the budget....

mods r in sig.

You should be able to find a used Fast 90 or 92 with in your budget. I paid a little less for my 90/90 with Nick Willams T.B. *Found on craigslist of all places!

personally I would go with the LS6 until you can afford the FAST. I just did trick flow heads and a new cam and I have the LS6. I plan on going with the FAST when I can afford. The LS6 seems to hold its value well so you can always sell it for what you paid.

I have researched this a little bit myself as well. It appears the Pro Products intake wont make any more power than a LS6 until the last little bit of RPM range up top. Then it'll make maybe 10-15ish hp more. Are you going to be living at 6500rpm all the time? Are you more interested in the look? For the money a LS6 and P&P TB is a very good performing setup. I'm considering a polished pro products intake more for looks only because its going into a sandrail. I'm not concerned about "heat soak" and everything else is polished or chrome plated. Still up in the air about it myself.

the car is gonna be a street car 98% of the time, it may see the track 1 time just to see what it does in a 1/4... I liked the look of the pro products intake and fuel rail setup...and i also saw that dyno chart. it looked like the ls6 made like 1-2hp more in the mid-range. i looked recently at the price again and it went up to $715 shipped...so i may just find an ls6 like you guys mentioned and just paint it. Our TB's are 78mm correct? would i feel any performance difference by going with a bigger tb? say like an 85mm? i wouldnt think it would gain any power.... and i have a local speed shop thatll port and polish the tb for $75.... $375-$425 sounds alot better than $715 lol

My whole setup would b.

LS6 intake
P/P TB
Pacesetter Headers into 3" TD's !CATS !EGR !AIR
Torquer v3 Cam
Custom Tune
4.10's

Think this setup is worthy of 400rwhp?

Maybe ill just save up over the winter and sell the ls6 and buy heads and the FAST setup next spring like u guys suggested... If i wait till next spring i can get a nice set of AFR's

Got a question about heads also. I called my local speed shop and he said he would port and polish my stock heads, mill them, clean up ye intake/exhaust ports ,magnaflux, 3 angle valve job, port n polish my throttle body and set up my valve springs for $550. Would this b worth it on a set of stock heads? It's a 2000 trans am so I'm assuming 853 casting.
