Wondering if anyone has thoughts on this.
Found a local L33 5.3
The L33 (VIN code "B") is an aluminum block version of the LM7, and was referred to as the Vortec 5300 HO in marketing materials. Power increased by 35 hp (26 kW), to 330 hp (250 kW), over the LM7, and torque was unchanged. It was only available on extended cab 4WD pickup trucks. Only 25% of trucks made in 2005 had the L33 engine.
it has 22k miles on it and no accessories but does have the harness but no cpu for $950.
Good buy?
I'm starting my search for a V8 for my 04 Colorado

pretty good deeal if it's complete minus acc. especially for teh miles. you shouldn't have to worry about anything. but i can grab an lm7 any day of the week for 300 bucks or so. just depends on if you are wanting an aluminum block for the price. if you watch for an LH6 out of a trailblazer, envoy, etc. they aree the same, but have flat tops and 243 heads. i snagged one of those just for the heads a few weeks ago for 325. just pick your poison and do some searching
mike
edit: be aware, the LH6 has dod, but can easily be deleted and still save money since you'll get the 243 heads in the deal

I'm trying to stay under 1500 for my initial engine buy and less miles lessens my chances of having to visit a machine shop.
I know my engine rebuild on my GTO's 400 ended being 5 grand since I ended up having to buy new heads for it but there were other factors with that engine build.

Well looks like LH6s near me are over 2000 and the LM7s are generally over 1200-1700 and are listed as hybrid but are two under 1000 one for 950 with 70k miles and one for 450 but needs one head.

well decided I'm going to go look at the engine and probably take it home today since it has 22k miles, complete with harness and coil packs and accessories brackets (just no accessories) and its a 15 min drive from my house.
