Default Swap out rod bolts on my 98?

hey guys,

i have a full bolt on 98 with a tune putting out about 325/450

i am looking to do a 150 wet shot, should i replace the rod bolts or should i be ok?

I would definitely upgrade your rod bolts if you don't your gonna take that chance of making a huge mess. I would also have it all balanced while the engine is apart. But that's me.

yea i was looking at these. so i should definitely do them is i put a shot on?

I believe you would be alright with stock rods as long as you don't over rev it.I have seen a lot of spray on stock motors.A lot of work to pull the motor.I will probably get raped but just my opinion.

Just don't spin it over 6500 and you should be fine. On my old 98 motor #7 piston gave up before the bolts stretched....

i have katech rod bolts for sale for my 98 that i was gonna use but i have to go in a diffrent direction now so ill sell them for $175.00 ... let me know.

If you know what your doing do them yourself ,a shop (unless ya know someone ) charges big bucks to do them,

it doesnt seem too terrible....lol

plans for the car are full bolt ons, a 150 shot and a converter...maybe h/c next year

RPM's are gonna kill your rod bolts not power. As long as your not planning on changing your valve spings and bumping up your rev limiter you'll be fine.

This. If you're not going to spin it high, you're just going to spray, I wouldn't worry about the rod bolts. Rod bolts fail in tension, ie when the piston is at the top of the stroke. The faster the piston is moving (governed by RPM) the more momentum the piston has at the end of it's stroke and thus more stress on the bolts to force it to reverse direction and start moving downwards in the cylinder.
