Default need help with crankshaft.

ok i got a little bit of surface rust on 3 journals of my freshly polished crank (its my fault). i tried cleaning it off with some brake cleaner and a shop towel. it feels smooth when i rub my finger tips across it, but when i take my finger nails and go across it i still can feel a little bit of the stuff still there. what else can i do to fix this problem with out going back to the machine shop? thanks

That is a touchy one. I wouldn't take any chances when it comes to the journals. I recommend taking it back and having it turned. Probably not what u wanted to hear but good luck anyway.

Hello , how goes it today besides the crank ? I would suggest to You that You go to an automotive paint supplier and buy 1 or 2 of the Mcguers polishing compounds , the final 2 ones . the very last 1 is called swirl remover (I think #9) and get maybe I think #7 polish and use the softest cotton rag You have and that should work fine , don't forget to clean the compounds off when You're finished . Good luck
