The LS6 is taller, with a fuel rail indentation for clearance. I don't think the LS1 has that...

ls6 intake is flat on bottom, and ls1 intake is curved on bottom

bottom of the intake, turn it upside down. an LS1 intake will have a raised side and a lower side, the LS6 intake will be totally flat on the bottom.

oh, one other thing.

the LS6 intake wont have EGR unless its an SLP LS6 intake.

however, dont rely just on this, because the LS1 intakes on 97-00 LS1 vette's dont have EGR either.

I can't turn it upside down unfortunately because it is installed on my motor.

my car has an 01' vette motor, and (apparently) an ls6 intake. I am just trying to verify that it does have an ls6 intake.

Anyway to tell for sure, just from a visual inspection?

^^^ sorry I came off dickish. The old lady pissed me off so I wasent in the greatest mood.

Your thinking about the FAST intake with the fuel rail indentation.

To the op, if your engine is out of an 01 vette, you have an ls6 intake. 2 ways to tell for sure...one look under the intake on the left side of the tb you will be able to tell if its flat or not...

2. Check the part number. I believe its on the left side of the intake as your looking at the tb opening about half way between #4 and #6 intake runn ers.

Do you have a tube sticking out of the top of the intake? If not you have the LS6. From my understanding all 01+ LS1's have the LS6 intake. I know my Z/28 had one.

Previous post already mentioned presence of EGR is not fool proof way of telling the difference. I previously had a LS6 intake from SLP with EGR provisions.

OP, only way to tell without looking at the bottom is to get the p/n from the left side of the intake, post it up and someone can tell you which one it is.

So if emissions is needed could egr be hooked up on a non slp intake?

All composite intakes have brass threaded inserts and sleeves

Quickest and easiest way to tell which is which is to flip it over or check the PN

Look at the gap under the intake . If it's lower in the middle than the sides it's a LS1 intake . If it's the same in the middle and sides it's a LS6 intake.

I'll post up the P/N after work.
