Thumbs up My H/C/I swap

Figured I would jump on the band wagon. Bought a used Fast 90 a couple months ago. Installed it not knowing about all the extra aluminum inside the intake and blew the engine apart. Stock engine had 125k hard miles on it and was losing oil pressure by the year.

Found a complete 8k mile longblock w/ls6 intake, cam, UDP on craigslist for $1800. Parted it out down to the shortblock and made ~$700.

New build is 228 / 230 .571 .573 112 LSA, PRC 2.5 5.3's, SLP UDP, 42 lb injectors, 85mm MAF, Ported / Painted FAST 90/90 all aluminum removed!

And to top it off HYBRID emblem from Prius to mess with tree huggers!

Can't wait to see what this thing puts down!

I bought a used fast intake. Previous owner grenaded his engine. Pieces of the engine were melted into the inside of the intake. A couple heat cycles later they went into my engine. Ruining my day. If buying a used Fast Intake always take it apart!

Yes I had the fast taken apart and ported /port matched. The guy doing the work found all the extra aluminum. Was a worth while investment having it ported! I would of hung myself if all that went into my new engine.

Added more cell phone pics.

Finally back from being tuned.. Only put down 415 hp 388 tq. Exhaust cutout fell off on way home from tuner, check engine light went on, and serp belt was halfway off the engine when I came home to check fluids. Car might end up in the classifieds soon. I expected to be able to melt the tires from a roll. Doesn't really feel all that much faster than when it was Boltons.

I feel like I am missing power somewhere. Tuner said it could be a vac. leak somewhere but if there was he tuned around it. Is it possible that the .650 dual springs are overkill??

The guy I bought the engine from did 420 / 400 cam only w/LS6 intake at a different shop. I might take it there to see how down it is from my numbers. I added PRC 5.3's, Ported FAST 90, 85 MAF.

dont blame the springs..We can see that there is some finishing issue with the belt issue. Maybe you have an unplugged spark plug wire. 415/388 is not that bad anyway. My numbers are lower with similar mods(ported 243s), but smaller cam, but mine pulls good!

Dont thrust your SOTP feeling, thrust the track or race buddies with good running cars.

Got it re-tuned after fighting some awful driveability issues, surging, stalling, check engine lights, fans not kicking on, etc...

Wound up gaining 26 h.p. and 20 tq from baseline dyno of previous tune. It was really disappointing to say the least when driving the car before the retune. Hoping it will be a new animal when I pick it up!

Lesson learned on the intake. Hard lesson...the hard way.

But I have to say this...if someone sold you an intake from a puked engine and didn't say a word to you, that's not right in so many ways. Yes, it's your responsibility to check for things like that, but how many people expect pistons and valves lodged in their intake?? Man...that's just wrong. Personally, I would have made sure it was clean before I ever shipped it...but that's me.
