Default Which O-Ring Green or Black ??? Help !

Ok, I have a 98 Z/28. I'm finished with the cam swap, now I was installing the new Melling Oil Pump. The new pump came with 2 O-Rings, one light green and one black, The green one is puffy an thicker looking, I removed the factory an tried to match it an kind looks in between the both. ALSO HOW FAR DOWN DOES THE O-RING SEAT ON THE PICK UP ?? Does it go all the way down over where it gets thicker, where the flat piece that it mounts it up ? Thanks, Josh

Thanks, I'm thinking the black one. I know it's a stupid question, but how far does the O-Ring set down on the pickup ? Just when it goes down an stops, or stretch it over the thicker portion of it, I know I know I'm a duba$$, just want get it right. Thanks, Josh

Black. The green one is for a truck pick up tube. Although, I have successfully used the green on an F-body pick up tube. Anyway, use the black one. It is designed for your pick up tube. The neck should have a distinctive ridge similar to a ring on the tube, not just a little larger neck. From the end, seat the "O"-ring all the way down against the ridge. Don't try & stretch is over the ridge. When installed, the ridge pushes the "O"-ring against a seat in the oil pump for proper sealing. Put some vaseline on the "O"-ring, then pack vaseline in the pump to prime it on first use.
