Default Any Idea?

I just finished a cam install which was a eps 226/234 on a 113. new pushrods and dual springs. After the install I had rocker failure so I replaced with 1.7 scorpion rockers. Drove the car around a good bit yesterday, was surging every once in a while and the idle would drop pretty low where i would have to give it gas to keep it from stalling 2 or 3 times. today when I was leaving work, after it was sitting idleing for about 2 minutes the idle dropped down low, then came up high like 1300 for 2 seconds, then I heard what sounded like a backfire through the intake that was steady like a certain cylinder. I left it at the shop, im going back tomorrow to at least pull the valve covers and/or tow it home to dig more, but any ideas?

It's un-tuned for one. Did you change MAFs? Did you change injectors? If the cam was severely off-timed, it wouldn't run. Did you degree it or dot to dot?

Dot to dot same maf and injectors. I think there is a tiny vacum line that came off of the egr valve and now im getting a manifold absolute pressure code. Im wondering if a valve dropped somehow...

No vacuum lines run to the EGR. Except the BIG one in the center/top/front of the intake. The small ones in back run to the HVAC and the diverter valve for the Air pump (if you have it.)

Maybe spray it with soap and water to look for a leak. (I don't trust brakekleen. = flammable!)

map code and idle issue is most likely tune related. my car had the same problem after the cam install.

Yea I would be getting a tune ASAP Shane. The surging and idle issues are definetly attriubted to that. You may wanna see if you can tow it to a tuner or pull the PCM and have them throw a base tune in it to drive to them. If you dropped a valve, you would hear some horrible noises thats for sure.

I agree with the previous statements. when changing something like the cam the most important part of the job is getting it properly tuned after.

thats a big cam thats needs a tune to run correct.check your plugs,do a compression check.check for a loose rocker, and check the valve head tip for correct rocker swipe.
