Which oil pump/chain combo?

Which oil pump/chain combo?

Im probably going to use this Melling oil pump

Ive heard a double roller timing chain is the best way to go, but it says you can only use a single roller with this pump. What pump/chain combos are you using? I want to replace mine before i put a cam in my car

What are your cam specs? An LS2 timing set and a LS6 oil pump normally do the trick. That's what I'm running at the time.

Can you just buy the LS2 timing chain for a direct replacement or do you have to buy the entire timing "set" w/ the gears and all?

Yank has had a nice deal on the LS2 chain sets.

I have the C5R chain and the ported Melling pump. the C5R chain is overkill, or added insurance depending on how you look at it.

Ls2 timing kit from Yank and a ported LS6 pump suited mine just fine.

I went with the Katech ported oil pump on my last 3 motor builds. Used the C5R chain on the current LS3 build, but used the LS3 chain in the prior two builds.
