Default Newbie Here! Want to swap an LS1 into My '67 Chevelle! Need some assistance....e!

Hey guys!
Brand new here.
I've watched for a while but just registered!

Here is the scoop:
I have a 1967 Chevelle with a 396 bb mated to a Tremec tko 600.
I want to swap in either a 5.3 or a 6.0, depending on what I find at the right price.

I have ac(vintage air) and obviously want to keep it. I have a Dakota Digital dash, so I need to be compatible with that. It also has a dual electric fan aluminum radiator.
I know I need custom mounting brackets, LS1 longtubes, someone to eliminate what I don't need and modify the harness, a custom intake, and a new clutch.

My questions are:
What else do I need?
A new bellhousing yes?
How difficult is the swap?
Which motor should I choose?
Any other directions I should go?

Im trying to get this done quick for the Power Tour.
Any insight will be appreciated!
Thanks guys!

6.0 heavy car. I would run gmpp distributer and carb set up. You'll need the conversion mounts and oil pan for swap. I think gmpp sells everything for swap. I would buy a ls2 or ls3 slap a quick cam since you'll change covers for distributer. Should be just as easy of normal swap. You can also buy msd set up to keep coils. Should be easy swap if you run carb also I believe kooks will make some headers for you

Hot Rod or Car Craft had a two part article on this swap a couple of years ago. I have the articles at home and will look to see what month/year it was and you can look on line. There are also a couple of Chevelles in the swap section on this site.

We make the bellhousing and hydraulics for the LS to TKO and RS. You can also run mechanical linkage if you provision for the ball stud for the zbar.

Thanks for the input so far!
Here's my thinking:
A 6.0 is still much lighter then my 1967 396 BB
I really wanted a fuel injected motor, one of the many reasons for doing the swap.
Can't afford ls2 or ls3.

Please let me know what date that article is!!

Ahhh keisler!
I actually have your perfect fit kit in my Chevelle.
Probably should have mentioned that.

I'm trying to stay on a budget
And I didn't even see there WAS a swap forum!
I'm blind!
Thanks so far!!

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It was Car Craft and the two articles were from 2008. I did look at them but forgot to write down the months. I think the first was May and the second was Sept. It was called swapping an LS into an A body or something like that.

I bought a LS1 long block on EBay with documented 18K miles on it for $1500.00, It runs like a champ in my 67 Elco.
