Valve Spring Install From HELL!!!!
So I installed my new 233/239 camshaft from texas speed, now im doing my brand new dual springs, i have that awesome crane cam compressor that makes getting them off a piece of cake. now getting them on... thats another story. I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS getting the springs on. It took me 3 hours to do two and i just gave up on two to write this. The god damn keepers NEVER will both go in. The problem with the crane cam tool is that maybe only one will go in? then u have to take it off, then re adjust, then compress, oh to far to the left, take it off , re adjust, oh to far to the right, take it off, rince and repeat. here are some pics, what am i doing wrong or do u have any tips, im about to say **** it and just let that bitch sit in my garage for a year cuz i really am on my last end with this thing.
Here are some pics
Uncompressed:
Compressed:
Only room for one keeper.... FML.:
help please.

what method are you using? top dead center or pumping the cylander full of air? the reason i ask is that it won't be as hard to get the locks in with the valve fully seated. just a thought. you also said your using duals. also, did you change your valve seals for them? did you buy new locks? or using the stockers?

You'll want the retainer at the height of compression just before the one
lock wants to fall out then pry w/screwdiver(left or right) to get the retainer
to shimmy(not a word) so the other lock will click in. It is a bit feisty since
the new dual spring combo has alot more pressure. BE PATIENT

Flip the piece of the tool over.man so the recessed part is facing down. The piece that compresses. That will line it all up. Your spring is going sideways an stuff because the tool (other side) holds it center. Or close enough.

Use a small flat tip screwdriver and try to lift the valve up from the groove and hold it there with a magnet, then slip the retainer in the other side. I have used this method many times and has worked great.

Sometimes you have to move the spring side to side to let the locks line up. The grease will help, I also used a small screwdriver to help move the retainer around a little. A little is all you need.
