Default cam/heads/stall questions

im trying to pick the right combo of parts to get a good high performance street car/strip car but more street. Im looking at the texas speed 228r cam and the stage 2.5 5.3 heads, what stall size should i be looking at, im thinking around 3200? I plan on running 3.73's as well, all my modifications are in my sig., if i went with this setup could it get me close to 380/390 rwhp or would i need to go with the stage 2.5 ls6 heads?

i run a 3200 stall and 3.73 gears along with a 230 size cam. It drives sooo smooth. It really drives like stock. I have thought about upping my stall to a 4k. I would atleast do a 3800 size stall. That would be a good size for sure.

On the cam the 228 is a popular cam choice. I would honestly step up to more cam. You will be amazed how well your car will drive that you wish you would have gone more. I would look along the size of the TSP Torquer 2. Its a 232/234. That would be a good size to daily drive.

Great choice on cam and heads for the results you are wanting. Like posted above you will probably want a bigger stall when you do stall it so I would recommend going with a SS3600 or SS4000, I couldn't make up my mind so I had Yank make me a SS3800. I absolutely love it, and I had a tighter Yank stall before this one, sold it and went bigger. I street drive mine everywhere and it has excellent manners, would be even better with the cam and heads you are looking at.

I would be careful with the cam size, the Torquer mentioned is probably the biggest I would go for daily duty. I myself would prefer the 228 for daily duty. But Texas Speed would know better about that, I can't say much I still have a stock cam.

the 2.5 5.3s heads with a 228r 112lsa should make 400rwhp,with a good tune and mods.the torquer 2 will make more power.
