Default Need some help with my 5.3 build.

Ok so recently i picked up a block from my buddy its a LM4 L33 alum 5.3 2004-2007 block is what he got when he ran the part number. But basically what i need help with is building it up im gonna reuse the crank but buy new rods and pistons (because one cylinder is kinda tore up so im gonna get the whole block resleeved) so i was wondering the rod lengths and what rods and pistons you guys think i should use, it will seee boost in the future so keep that in mind. On s10forum (yup motor is going in a s10) i was told diamond pistons would be the best, but im not sure about rods and stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ross

Hello , the stock rods are 6.098" long and they sell aftermarket rods in that length and also 6.125" with the 6.125" 1's being the better choice . But make sure You get the correct pistons to go with the length rods You decide on . Keith Black makes some pretty good pistons at a reasonable price . I would go to Summit racing parts and look around on their website . They have a few different brands . Google Chevy racing engine parts and look at some of the sites that come up . there are literally 1000's of places in the US that sell these parts . You'll learn alot and You'll start to form You're own opinions about which parts are good and which have what You're looking for . BTW , the stock pistons and rods are good for 600-650 hp. Good luck

if your getting the block resleved i would give erl a call, at the point your at there is almost no reason to not go with a bigger bore and slugs
stay away from those pistons you are going to want forged pistons with boost
i would definitely give one of this fourms sponsors a call , if not erl then lmr builds some wicked motors as well
wisco or diamond pistons are good
and callies rods
if your going to do it, do it right, so that way you don't have a built motor that cannot take more power then stock lol

I mite be wrong but some 5.3 blocks can be bored/honed to 3.908.it mite be cheaper to find another block then to resleve your current block.
