At about 40mph the stall is locked anyway so the only time a stall will affect mileage is driving unlocked uner 40mph. It really doesn't affect it much. Stalls knock off more time in 1/4 than a cam. I honestly don't think it would be worth it to cam an auto with stock stall. You won't gain much at all. Especially since you will have to go with a small cam or you will pull hard through the brakes. I recomend getting a 2800-3000 stall and a 220's cam. That shouldn't be to hard on gas mileage and you will get great gains. A quality 2800-3000 stall can be had for $400 from Circle D. Just my .02

and if your dead set on not getting a stall I would get a pretty small cam. Probably nothing bigger than the hot cam really, imo

OMGNOWAI... a thread about a topic that has been discussed many times.. if only there was some function on this forum that allowed people to go back into past threads to learn about their questions.

What's this you say? A thread not even 3 days old about this very topic? Shut the front door!!!!

If you're going to throw a fit, at least pick a thread that has the same topic that the OP is asking about. He's not asking about getting in the 11's with a stock stall.

OP, a stall is a good investment with or without a cam. It's the best mod for an A4 car IMO. I would really look into a stall first, and get a cam later. Get the best out of both of them. Make sense?

Stalled cars are not for everybody as daily drivers, they do suck for gas/driveability but some people can deal with that for a daily driver. If I had a 20 mile commute to work or more and wasn't all interstate I wouldn't even fool with a stall...

I really didn't see any difference in gas milage when I got my converter. And driveability wasn't affected either. I actually enjoyed driving it more after the converter was installed. Not trying to argue with you, of course, cause everyone is different when it comes to their cars.

It actually is an almost identical topic if you had common sense.

If you want to pick up some good "power under the curve" not effect gas mileage and keep the car VERY streetable, maybe look into a Yank SS3200 and pair it up with a EPS 222/226 cam. Local guy in Washington has this combo and the car is making awesome power all over the RPM range. I ran the Yank SS3600 in my past Z28 and it was very easy on gas and still streetable....even for a DD.

Don't insult people you don't know. Your input thus far has been useless to me and your comments are unnecessary so by all means, do something more constructive with your time huh.
