Duuude, save your money for when your car breaks her hip

Im not claiming to be a tech here but lets face it man, at that mileage I would be doing preventative work like rebuilding or new engine before I sought performance gains...Maybe that's just me...

well that was my intention, to do a valve job, new lifters and replace the cam. Thats preventative maint. but if I am going to do that why not change the cam too. Thats why I keep saying I want a MILD CAM and who makes he best cam. I;m not looking to build a race car I just want to fix this one before somthing bad happens. Like break a timing chain and just totally ruin the motor. Because if you break the chain bye bye pistons and bye bye motor and tons of money. Maybe i'll just go with the stock z06 chevy cam.

You still have the bottom end to worry about. You might gain more by doing a good rebuild and have a litte head work done while they are off.

i would look into the gm hot cam. you can use your yellow springs and wont have to turn the motor as high as you would with the z06 cam. i think the hot cam specs are 219/228 .525 .525 lift, i believe. not to say that the z06 is a bad cam, but you have to really get it into the upper rpm's before it will shine and with that many miles, i just wouldnt do it. the hotcam will bring your power in a lot sooner, sound good, and give you a boost in performance.

With this cam can I still use stock ls1 lifters and the same push rods when I put on the 799 heads. Thanx this sounds like I'm getting closer to what I want to do on a limited budget.

With that many miles, I would save your coin for a crate motor or fully rebuild yours.

I went with Jon with TSP. I have 228R 112 LSA, 5.3 heads stage 2.5, LS6 intake & Headers. And I love it. Cam hits a little chop but pulls strong.
I ran 6.8 @94 MPH 1/8 mile the other night with 125 shot of NOS.
This cam works great on just gas or spraying for me.
Car is a daily driver and I can see issues with a biger cam. Might get a faster time with more cam and turn more heads at idle but is not worth tuning and driveabillity issues to me. TSP did the home work for me and maybe for you

Compromised means you will give up substantially in one of the following categories: Power, fuel economy, or drivability (in relation to power gained). It also means you are spending a lot of time and money for a small gain, unless you are just after a rough idle. If you are willing to change springs, you can have it all. Our CheaTR V3 cam would give you approx. a 60HP gain with near stock drivability on a car with long tubes and an LS6 intake.
