Question Need help h/c set up

Hi i am new to moding i have a 01 ss im looking to do heads and a cam to it but im very novice. I work for a gm dealership and can get ls6 heads and cam for decent money but not sure of the power gains and what else ill need to buy, i know the heads com with the yellow springs and that the pr's part #'s along with the cam bearings #'s are the same for a ls1 and ls6 is this a good set up for a daily driver ? Any help welcome

Id get the heads and have them ported and milled, but skip on that cam ( too much work for the gains) you could drop a 224 to 228 in and have a great power gain and very streetable with a good tune.

You will want hardened pushrods, and if needed you can replace your oil pump and timing chain while on there

Any thoughts on brands of cam kits that would come with the rods and would i need to change out the springs?

Check out Texas Speed, they have a lot of cams and packages for a great price. Really depends in how much of a cam you want.

Like has been said, the LS6 heads are good, especially if you can send them off to get ported. Skip the LS6 cam, there are a lot of vendors on here with great cams, Thunder Racing, Texas Speed and Performance, EPS, Futral, Vengeance, Speed Inc, just to name a few. You can call anyone of them up, tell them what mods you already have and tell them what you want to get out of the car and they can hook you up. Yes you will want to change out the springs and any of the aforementioned vendors sell quality pushrods with their kits.

Feel free to give us a call. We offer extremely good pricing and have some PROVEN heads/cam combos. Do a quick search for Vengeance Racing and see the results for yourself.

We look forward to working with you.
