Which heads are better for a strong street car, LS6 or L92???
Hi, I'm going to be building an LS-series engine for my 1978 Z28. I've been doing a lot of reading regarding both style heads. The LS6 seems like it would have better port velocity than the newer L92 style heads. But the L92's are on the newer engines and produce tremendous hp and torque numbers. I'm looking to build a 6.0, or possibly a 6.2 if I can score the aluminum short block. And a stroker up to 408 or so isn't out of the picture if I'm going to be buying new crank/pistons/rods.
I'm looking to put @450-500 hp to the rear wheels. But the car will be primarily a street driven car. But I have to be able to run 11's at the track if I go. Trans will be a T-56 and I'll keep the 3.73 rear gears.
Any thoughts or input as to heads would be appreciated.

In my opinion, it depends which way you go for cubic inch. In a stock stroke 6.0 I would prefer the LS6 heads because you get a healthy compression bump. On an stroker setup I would rather put the L92 heads on because you will see better horsepower numbers while not having to worry about low end power. The stroker setups pick up a lot of power in the low end so the L92 heads can take over on top.
