A couple of my thoughts...The specs of he G5X3 are nowhere near that, it is smaller. With all the "huge" cams out now, the specs would probably surprise you how small (relatively) the G5X3 is. Also, when the heads come off to flycut, and if you're gonna keep them, why not at least send them to TEA for an update? I got some Stage 1.5 5.7s "HFCL" from Brian the other day that flowed 301+ Intake @ .600 & 265+ Exhaust @ .600. Imagine how well his "HFCL" 5.3s are doing. His heads have improved greatly since you got yours. I think your heads in their current form will keep you from reachng 470. You can also bump the compression a little if you want to at this time.

Good luck, Shawn

Verbs, lose your woody on the EWP. It's not going to give you any more power. Seen it local....

As for everything else, I don't wanna sound negative but I think you should underrate your new #'s instead of overrate them because you might be setting yourself up for a disappointment. Also keep in mind you'l be flycutting, which reduces compression even more..I think a solid 20/15 is doable w/ the new swap.

BTW, are you dropping the cradle to do this? If not, who is cutting your pistons?

I'm absolutely being conservative IMO...I said I'd love to see 470rwhp, but more likely its going to be in the 46x area.

LG Motorsports sent Xtreme Motorsports their flycutting tool to be used on my car....since my heads were off to get the valves repaired, I figured it'd be a good time to get that done.

Like spanky said, the X3 is smaller. I to think people would be surprised if they new the specs. It does make great power for a cam of its size, but it is no where near the numbers you heard they were.

Because they're backlogged at least a month, and I can't have my car down for at least a month. I've also talked to Brian Tooley about doing this and he said I really wouldn't see much of a benefit, and it definately wouldn't be worth the $$$$.

TEA's 5.3's in general are flowing just as well from what I've seen, but at a higher compression.

My heads are flowing 306@600 on the intake and over 300@550 so the flow is there on the intake side (doesn't flow nearly as well on the exhuast), and I don't know about the velocity.

I also talked to TEA about this, and by milling the heads I wouldn't gain even a tenth of compression for every hundreth I mill. My clearance is tight as is so I have to be careful.

FWIW my .02,

Flow thru the intake manifold will be critical in making the most power with the new combo.

The new valve job add ~5-8 cfm on the flow bench this could be up to 4-8rwhp to easily pick up. Likewise the fast ramps on many of these cams can beat up the valve job, so it might be worth freshing up just for that reason.

My Ricer Math...

0-2rwhp/0-2rwtq for YT's
3rwhp/3rwtq for EWP if you have an ASP
10-15rwhp/10-15rwtq for intake
9-12rwhp/4-5rwtq for cam swap
_____

-4rwhp/-4rwtq for 4.10 gears

worst case 18rwhp & 14rwtq
best case 28rwhp & 21rwtq w/good custom tune
and probably 22rwhp & 16rwtq

add 10+ to both with new valve job & hand touch ups.

Best wishes on the new combo.
