Only one side of engine running?
My dad and I just swapped in a 98 LS1 into a 98 previously v6 bird. We thought everything was good to go until we tested the coils on the passenger side and the whole side seems to not be getting any spark?
Could it be just a blown fuse? Bad ECM? Your thoughts? This seems to be our last major hiccup and I just want it on the road!

From what I know, when you swap a V8 into a V6 F-body, you'll need to replace the WHOLE wiring system. That includes the engine wiring harness and body wiring harness. Technically, they're two different car. If you've V8 engine harness and PCM, then I guess you guys just missing something didn't hook up right.

Yeah we have all that hooked up from the same engine...we're starting to think it's a bad computer. It couldn't be just all 4 coils went bad on that side, although I wish it were that easy

Just swap one of the non-working coil to the working side and see what happen. It could be possible that one bank all coils doesn't work due to wiring problem. But all coils fail at the same time is rare.

And to add to Darkman's point, each bank of coils/injectors has a separate 12VDC ignition-switched fused feed in the factory wiring diagram.
After you've confirmed the grounds are firmly attached, start at your two fuses w/ a test light or meter and work your way up to the coil connector.

Thanks all for your input. Would anyone be able to post a schematic of the ignition system including the PCM ? It's a distributorless system that is NOT in the Chiltons guide.

Hey , Autozones website should have the wiring diagrams that You need for free . Just click add vehicle then vehicle repair manuals then wiring diagrams. If they don't have it message Me back and I'll see if I can't post My truck diagram which should be basically the same as the Camaro as far as the ignition circuit is concerned . Good luck .

Talk with a service writer / manager at a local dealership and ask nicely for the wiring diagram off SI. Lots of dealerships will do it so that they can hope to get your business for something else. I did it for a few customers at the last dealership I worked at.
