Well I would say your numbers are pretty low to begin with that big of a cam you should have easily broken 400 rwhp before you put the heads on. What are all your mods that you have on your car?

You are not the only one having this problem. I had these heads a few months ago, and had one of the first baches with bad springs. I changed the springs and was told nothing of the valve seals. I was burning oil like crazy (about the same amount as you), and on top of that hardly made any power with the heads. My car has always ran pretty strong (dynoed 411 rwhp on stock heads). I got 16 rwhp and 11 rwtq from the PP heads. The oil problems, almost no power increase, car running like crap, and spring changes werent worth $1300 to me, so i got rid of them. I didnt think that people would still be having these problems, i guess u get what u pay for.

Your best bet is to have the heads fixed and sell them.

NO head that I know of has had this type of bad responce in the Ls1 world.Only product that comes to mind are the comp 941 springs.

2 weeks ago I installed a new set on a customers car sent to replace the previous set only to have the same problems on a head that was 7 months newer.

Terry you never answered my pm back about the valve angle.

In regard to power, once you get the oil issue solved the power will come up. That's because that much oil consumption is causing knock which, even if you don't hear it, is pulling as much timing as the PCM can.

I have'nt had any problems with the PP 5.3's, yet. I gained almost 45 rwhp with those heads. I did PM Terry on the valve seals though since I have the teflon ones. Hopefully he will send out the Viton's to me.

What he said! You can easily loose 20- 30hp if the PCM goes into the low timing table.

Look between the coils of your valve springs and if the top of the seals are white.. they are the teflon ones.

Terry you never answered my pm back about the valve angle.
And yet people still continue to buy comp springs.

What a shame, Just when you thought the safe bet was the 5.3 heads. Im just suprised after all of the posts about this that the issues werent taken care of earlier. It just seems to be a poorly run shop or something. I think Terry needs to start shitcanning some people or something.

In light of what you get and the price you get it at, I'm willing to cut some slack. He's upgraded the seals and taken care of the issue. I'd be a bit frustrated if I'd installed a bad set and was faced with tearing it apart again, but that won't stop me from buying these heads in the future.

The ones that I have were from the first bunch way back from last summer. Do think I have these bad seals? And if I do do you think I should replace them.

Thanks,
Warren
