E85 the Ls1
for my low mileage stock cube ls1 with TSP stage 2.5 CNC'd heads and Torquer V2 cam, should I start running e85?
Reason:
Motor had ls7 lifters and they got progressively louder as time went on. Saw the ls7 lifter failure post and crapped my pants. I bought Comp OE lifters to replace em.
so, with the engine in my 02 TA, I pulled the intake and heads off. pulled the lifters, they looked worn but no flat spots. I decided as a good measure to pull the cam out which was a 222 226 smog cam.
after pulling the cam i noticed my #1 cam bearing had a crack in in. i used a snake camera to check the others and the #5 was literally separating. So thats why the engine came out. I then, as another good measure, pulled the main caps off and a few rod caps to find the start of what would eventually turn into bearing failure.
***Anyway, motor is stripped down. ***
was rolling a few ideas around but I am looking for some experience or knowledge on the subject.
IDEA
do a high compression (motor is 10.8:1 now) stock cube ls1 and run e85 or if my crank and rods are screwed do a High compression 383 stroker and run e85.
The car has a new racetronix pump and 36lb injectors now
OPINIONS PLEASE!
what would i need to change?
