BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ???

Re: BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ???
Observations...
When I got my Katech I was not impressed the porting ( the finish was like a corn bob) and decided to take it apart.
Once apart, I noted that the outlet port was completeley untouched and ported and radiused it myself.
Also, the bybass spring was not shimmed and I shimmed it .090. The bypass cylinder was honed and the bypass valve was extremely polished.

Re: BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ???
I just put on my Katech pump and have 60cold idle, 55 at warm cruz, 40-45 hot idle and 70+ at wot. Another way to tell if you have a torn oring (atleast it worked for me) was to slam on the brakes and see if you oil pressure goes up. All the oil will rush to the front of the pan and fill the gap caused by the tear or absense of the oring gasket.

Re: BEST AFTERMARKET OIL PUMP ???
if you read the GM advisory on the oil burning issue it concludes that driving around town at high revs with little load on the engine causes the rings to bleed oil into the combustion chammer...
It goes on to say that excessive oil pressure will casue the same result....
...I also read somewhere that synthetic oil requires much less oil pressure than dino oil...
...so my question is this; Is a ported oil pump that increases oil pressure necessary or desirable...
