I've seen one or two dyno graphs of a particular cam with stock heads that made some disgusting torque!! I believe it was a Comp Cam XE lobe with the specs of 224/224 .567 110LSA. I'll post the graph later if I can find it

Plenty of lowend here with the mods listed in the sig I made 375hp/380 tq with stock LS1 manifold and stock unported throttle body, another vote for the hotcam.......

You will need upgraded springs (918's) with the TR cams. Don't go cheap on the springs, buy new 918's or the equivalent. The TR cams have pretty aggressive cam lobes.

I chose the TR220 because I wanted a near stock idle. I won't stay the TR220 is a stock idle, but you have to know what you are listening for to tell the difference. The TR224 cam definately has a non-stock idle. No questions by anyone if you are cammed or not.

The TR224 makes kick *** power. I decided to give up 10 hp / 10 ft-lbs. tq for a better idle. As somebody said earlier the torque curves are sick for that cam on a stock head.

Either the TR220 or the TR224 will make more power than you can put to the ground on the street. With my TR220 first and second gear are pretty useless on the street under any kind of agressive acceleration. Third gear is still very touchy. If I were a drag racer, the TR224 would be a good choice as I could hook it up with slicks on the track...but being a 100% street driven toy, I accepted the fact that a TR220 was more than enough for the street and has a very good idle to boot.

This was the logic I used in picking one vs. the other. I hope this helps.

I love my hotcam since this car is my main street car. Good torque!

IMO SRP-224 XE-R on a 113 LSA car has heads but the cam is very important to the shape of the torque curve. Notice how the torque comes on hard in the range you drive in. Car has 4.10's etc see sig.

300rwtq @ 2,300 rpm where pull starts even with stock & gains at all points there after.

350rwtq @ 2,700-2,800 rpm

365rwtq @ 3000 rpm

370rwtq @ 3500 rpm

380rwtq @ 3800 rpm

400rwtq @ 4500 rpm

The graph maybe a little hard to read

That's a great comparison. Too much power for the street, eh?
I believe the 224 is the most common size for street/strip, but I heard a little less aggressive is a good decision to base a street cam on. I would guess the combination of good idle, good tq, and great top end makes these cams hard to beat, even down low.

I would speak to some of the vendors. I understand that you can change were your power starts to come in by change the cam timing.

My TR224/112 made 320rwtq at 2100 and 350 @2700 and is over 370 from 3500- 5500 peaking at 384 untuned. I was going to go with a bigger cam but like you want some low end power too.

I think it's really hard to beat the ~224 sized cams in this application.
