Default What gains to expect from MTI T1 Cam?

The specs are 221/221/.558/.558/112 LSA
I have a 1998 6-speed Trans Am

My current power adders are

1) Fast Toys Ram Air
2) K&N Filter
3) ASP Underdrive Pulley
4) Mac Mid-length headers and Off road Y-pipe
5) Direct Flo lid
6) Nitrous (use it maybe one a month if even that)
7) Tr6's
8) MSD Spark Plug Wires

What hp/tq number do you think I will get with my mods plus the T1 cam. Also do you think that this is an okay cam for me? My t/a is a daily driver. I want the cam to be noticable, but I don't want it to shake the whole car and die frequently when I'm driving it. I want a nice idle and don't want to have to get it tuned. I want a good streetable cam and I was wondering if the T1 was a good choice. If you have any experience good/bad could you please share with me. I was debating on the 114 lsa, but I see that most of the 6-speeds here run a 112 lsa? Is that true? Thank you.

How is the car at idle? Does it die anytime? How do you like it? Advantages/disadvantages

I have LS1edit so the tune is right on....but before I got the tuning the ONLY problem I encountered was on warm/hot start up(then it seemed to hunt/search for idle..and an SES light due to misfire codes.

It loped pretty good but now that I have tuning(raised the idle to about 875rpms) it's not that bad at all. IMHO it's a great all around daily driver cam.

Mike, did you change anything besides the idle with LS1edit to get your tuning "right on" for that cam? Oh I assume you did that 32000 tweak to take care of the missfire codes, but anything else?

I didn't think you had to tune the cam if you had a 6-speed

I had my C1 tuned by Speed Inc and the car felt like a totally different car after they got done with it.

My buddy is running somewhat same setup.

He went from 12.7@108 before the cam, to 12.4@113 after the cam. This is a 6 spd 00 SS with Longtubes. NO ls1edit tune, just MAFT. So it probably has some tuning left in it.

He is gettin ls1edit here soon, so well find out.

Good Luck!!

Lopes really good, personally I love it, but it might be a bit much for some. Just made 370rwhp with the bolt ons, and TTS headers thru cats untuned. I bet I should be able to pick up around 10rwhp or so with tuning - as it is running a bit rich even with MAFT tuning, and timing advance is not where I'd like it (only seeing 24-24.5 degrees at WOT). Know a guy who made 387 rwhp with its kissin' cousin the B1 on stock heads through cats and has run a 12.0@118. Good cams, and not as hard on valvesprings as some of these massive .580+ lift 230 duration monsters that everyone is going to now.

Do you think the T1 is better for me or the B1. They seem to make about the same hp/tq. Also would I need to raise the rev limiter with the T1. The only reason I was leaning towards the T1 is because I found a great deal on it and am about to buy it in the next week. I just want to make sure this is going to be a great cam before I spend the money.

Thanks

IF you are planning to spin your motor pretty high they will make the same power.

I don't want to spin my motor very high. I just something normal and something that won't damage my engine.

Which one spins the motor higher? T1 or B1?

Also with the T1 would I have to raise the rev limiter or can I just keep it stock and it work just as well.

I raised to 850 RPM and have never had the car die on me since.

I don't know if the gauges in my 98 are completely correct, but right now my car idles at 1,100 rpms. It seems a lot higher than everyone elses cars that people had posted.

Another question. With a cam like this, is there anyway to get rid of the ses misfire codes that I might get? Ls1 edit??? Or does the light always stay on?

My car with GTP Heads and 4.56's was running 11.4's and trapping consistant mid 122's and even a 123.13 and I had a HPP3 for tunning . MechMan had the T1 as well and was running 11.8's in the 118's with stock heads and 3.73's It is a great cam. Depending on you track skills and with stock heads. look for high 11's to lower 12's some where in the 370-390 RWHP depending on your bolt ons...........
