Default Seriously need pushrod help, please!

I've been reading, and I still have questions.
Like,
(1) Where do I find upgrade pushrods in the $50 price range?
(2) Why aren't there any 7.37" pushrods?
For those of us who want to mill our heads by 0.030", since these rockers aren't adjustable like the old SBC.
(3) Do we just put shims under the rocker stands?
(4) If so, why am I not seeing these advertised?
I really need some 7.37" pushrods for $50!

They do make 7.375 pushrods, call a sponsor. Maybe you could find them used for that price but do you really want used pushrods? Your looking at a little over $100 for new ones.

Even Trend isn't that inexpensive and they make them for others. Used for that price.

Custom length and certainly not for $50.

Don't follow the logic here. Are you subtracting 0.030 fropm 7.400? If so, know that 7.400 isn't even the stock length.

(3) Do we just put shims under the rocker stands?

To alter the wipe pattern you can shim or lower the rockers as required to get the geometry correct. Pushrods on the LS1 won't do this.

I don't feel bad that I'm an ignorant dumbass.
Special thanks to vettenuts for explaining. So, what length should I need for a pure stock 5.3 with NO mods except shaving the heads 0.030", if not 7.37"?
Thanks!

Give TSP a call since they responded in the thread. I am not sure of the 5.3 stock length, although would be curious to know the answer since I have a 5.3 in my Silverado, and then subtract 0.030" and get the closest length available to that value. The stock length of the LS1 is 7.385". The 7.400" length is the one most find works as a direct replacement for stock when a cam is installed because it makes up for the smaller cam base circle when swapped one for one.

Hope that all makes sense.

My suggestion would be to buy a adjustable push rod tool. Mark your valve with a sharpie marker. Install the tool. Turn the engine over. Remove the rocker arm. If the line is not in the center of the valve adjust as needed. When you have it in the center. Measure it. Then order your push rod that size.

Pushrod length does not effect valve wipe on these engines.

Correct. The LS engines have a fixed rocker fulcrum. You must shim the rocker stand to get correct valve stem swipe. After this is acheived, you then measure for push rod length.

That is only true on non adjustable setups like OEM. It is not due to being a LS motor, it has to do with which rocker setup you are running.

You are also correct. I was refering to a factory LS type setup. He asked about shimming the rocker stands so I assumed he has the factory stuff.

I thank you all for the education, I believe I understand a bit better now.
I'm still bewildered that pushrods should cost so damn much more $ than hardened SBC 350 pushrods, especially since these are now selling in greater quantities.
I guess I'll forget milling the heads more than 0.005", keep the stock pushrods, and try to find some used 4.8L pistons.
