Increasing the flow is not a difficult task. The question you must ask is what happened to port velocity at the higher flow numbers you quoted. Higher flow at lower velocity equals less cylinder fill and less power. Too many folks are hung up on flow numbers.

And how many people do you know that are running 440+ LS1's? Higher flow numbers make more power from my experience. We are not talking about 346 motors... bigger displacement will suck in a lot more air.

Dave- You need to get a solid roller for that thing. I was thinking about using a bigger cam then that on my motor. The motor n/a will be fun for the streets, but if you go to the track the spray is much better.

Dave, nice work and nice way to lead the pack.... I would guess you'll end up with a very streetable , very reliable rwhp monster. I would guess the limiting factor is the manifold...but a ported lsx should really help w/ a 90....this is just guesswork, but with that 550 and beyond N/A should be a blast....

Thanks for the kind words Dave. Those heads will nicely compliment your monster 447. The instantanious pedal response will be breathtaking. Good luck hooking it up
Seriously, your heads were fun to work on. The PP welded and CNCd chambers are impressive. I'm looking forward to your future projects too.

Good luck,

Richard

Richard, you are the man!! Did you by chance do a before and after of the port volumes? As Jason said I don't think the larger intake ports will hurt me at due to the displacement.

Jason, I really don't want to do a solid roller, I want a very streetable setup without the solid roller hassles. I know it would make huge power with a big solid roller, sheet metal intake and spray but this is going to be 90% street driven and I want it to live a good while without much hassle.

Jammer, I think I my be forced to use the FAST LSX 90mm setup due to not much else being readily available and within the financial budget but I really would lik to try a More Performance Sheet Metal unit, They claimed to pick up almost 100 hp on a 427!!! Maybe I can get them to sponsor me.

Bear, I'm actually building the 427 right now as well, it is going into a friends 2001 Z06 after I changed my damn mind and let the cubic inches takes advantage of me. I don't really see bigger than 447/8 really being too feasable. Any more stroke and there are issues with the reluctor wheel, not enough deck height, etc..same for the bore size on the Darton wet sleeves, they are good for 4.160 or 4.165 so that will leave me little margin as well. I really want to get this thing done soon and enjoy it...
