piston to bore clearance question
I am thinking about boring an iron 5.3 block to LS1 size and using stock used LS1 pistons. The factory spec for piston to bore on a LS1 is .0007-.00212 (which seems awful tight) Looking for opinions on where to set the clearance for a quiet, reliable, no oil using, 100,000 mile daily driver motor. If you split the range in half it comes up to .0014.....would that be a decent number to shoot for?

I agree , go with as small a ptb as will allow pistons to slide up n down in the bores . The reason they have been able to decrease the space between pistons and bores is because of the increased amount of silicon in the pistons . At 16% , the pistons don't expand near as much as regular cast pistons that have only 8 or 9 % silicon .
