Default 243 heads

Were the 243 heads with the light valves from an actual ls6 corvette only? Or were they included in other engines too?

The 243 heads with the titanium valve's were part of the LS6 engine. This was the standard engine on the Z06 Corvette and 04-05 CTS-V only. Other engines did in fact receive 243 heads, but never with the lighter valve's. They were exclusive to the LS6 package only.

The lighter valves are only offered in the LS6 specific engine packages. If you have some 243/799 heads off of a later model 5.3l motor they won't have the lighter valves. Also, the valves are sodium filled not titanium. Titanium valves only come in the new c6 z06 LS7 motors, if I am not mistaken.

Jon- you're right-

LS6 (C5Z CTS-V) hollow stem 2.0 intake
LS2,all truck engines that use 243 or 799 casting- solid stem 2.0 intake
LS3/L99 -hollow stem 2.16 intake
L92,L76- solid stem 2.16 intake
LS7- Ti 2.20 intake, 1.61 hollow stem exhaust
LS9- Ti-1.16 Ti intake, 1.59 exhaust(hollow?)

Good point. It should have been clear from your grammar that there was no expertise claimed or implied.

ANYWAYS, just a quick Q- Let's sayfind some bare 243's for a decent price. How much does one expect to pay for a set of the LS6 hollow valves, not new? Do any shops have them after they do port work / valve jobs?

TSP? What do you guys do with the valves if the customer changes valve size?

Douche bag comment win

Seriously, why make a comment like that? He made a mistake and said the wrong material, and later stated that he was wrong. I'd rather read terrible grammar every day of the week, rather than read all the disrespectful and douche bag comments that i see on here from random members... ON A DAILY BASIS.

GM last sold these valves for around $40/each...but they're now discontinued
I recently lucked into a set from a fella in Brick,NJ for $190 shipped. They
were new takeouts in a sealed bag marked Valvegod ?? (vendor ?)
check the classifieds I think Studderin is/was sellin' a new set also.

If you want to read bad tech info and text that would embarrass an elementary-schooler, there are other forums.

LS6 243 heads = hollow intake and sodium filled exhaust valves. All other 243 heads = solid valves. AFAIK the only way to tell for sure what you have is to weigh the valves... look here >>>> https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ve-weight.html
