Piston and ring suggestions please Hey guys Im in the process of picking components. I have a 480HP T/A stock bottom daily but this is for my weekend car. Have an LS1/T56 in my 1993 RX7 that I use for road racing/drag racing and weekend driving. I currently have the following mods: meziere 319, fast 90/90, 4" custom intake, 85mm maf, 1 7/8 LT's to 3" collectors, 3" duals all the way back with electronic cut outs, comp lifters, mellings oil pump, 3.90 gears, stage 3 clutch (good to839fl lbs), stock t56, lightened driveshaft, new .030 stock crank.
Im going to purchase the following unless someone changes my mind on something:
Mast 11 degree small chamber cathedral heads (getting them for only slightly more than TF 215s)
Cam from thunder racing 235/239 @.050 615/620 lift
25% Underdrive
Callies forged rods
ARP head/rod bolts
Want to know what pistons/rings to get??? I plan on using a small/med nitrous set up in the future when I have the money (100-200 shot) and would like to boost my compression to the highest possible on pump gas (12/1). Any advice on how to achieve these numbers is appreciated. I dont really want to spend more than 700 on them because I'm running pretty low on the budget with what I already mentioned! If I dont have enough to get my bottom done I know that those heads/cam will be fine on a stock bottom - just wouldnt spray it out of fear of blowing the bottom end (After talking to Thunder Racing he estimated 515hp and OK on ptv clearance)
I know that at my weight (2750lbs) with motor alone then I should be hitting low 10's/high 9's and with a shot should easily hit 9's in a car that is honestly capeable of being a DD! - I could run these heads/cam on a stock bottom and hit mid/low 10's easy. (Im at 12.1/12.2 with a stock 99 cam/853's). A guy I know his only mods are a much more mild cam, ls6 intake, 25%underdrive and stock heads, stock manifolds, etc. on a 110 shot in the mid 10's. he is mid 11's motor.... lightweight kills- not to mention it handles like a go cart.
