Default 6.0 questions

Hey guys ive got a 98 v6 firebird. Ive resently acquired full front suspension from a Z28 w/ rack and BMR K member. Ive got a roll cage that later on i may put in. Also I have a 6.0 short block LQ4 that came w/ ls1 heads and intake. the engine is apart. I would like to go w a t56 set up. I also have a complete 4.8 w/ coil pack, starter, ac. comp, ps. pump, fuel rail, i mean everything that came bolted to the motor. i planned on using the coil packs, but can i reuse the starter, fuel injectors, compressor. Im kinda new to the Gen III hence the 4.8 that i ended up with! Dont get me wrong its a very complete engine and tranny (4l60e) low mile combo, but i want something i can stroke and eventually supercharge. Maybe some LS6 heads, intake, cam reluctor wheel insite would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the 6.0 you have is a good start. keep the coils from the 4.8 sell the rest and sell your engine. keep the tranny from the 4.8 do a mild build on the 6.0...

hone it, new rings, bearings, ls1 camaro accesories wiring ecm,and oil pan, what year is the 6.0? buy some ls3 heads and intake small cam

if your going to use 243 heads put on a set from ls2 or aluminum 5.3's. some ls6 243 are bad for dropping valves. yes your trans will work in the car if you put on a ls1 4l60e tailshaft or run a torque arm relocation mount.

Default cool

ill check the opti shift out. I love bangin gears. I'm also making a tail pan remanisent of the 1st and 2nd gen w/ the two small tail lights on ether side, and my own Lemans style head lights. For the engine I've been pricing forged 4.125 cranks. I'm gonna try to achieve a 6.6L I remember as a kid seeing that on a T/A shaker and was hooked. I have gotten almost everything by trading work from my paint shop for parts. hope this run will last! Q.! What wiring harness, Cam, Flywheel, Should i use? Also any inside track on a f-body or LS salvage yard that's reputable: still got to find and accessory drive. Sorry I'm such a 4 yr old w all the questions but any input is always greatly appreciated

Default 6.0 lq4 vs. lsx

What are the differences between in the block between the 6.0 lq4 and the lsx? Is there a difference in deck height?

If you get the tall deck LSX. Do you really need an LSX block? Do you plan to have over 1000rwhp? The 6.0 block can handle alot of abuse so you might want to really think about what you want as far as HP goals. A 4.125 stroke crank is also a bit much for a 6.0 block. A 6.6l equals 400ci so you can achieve the "6.6L" with a 4.000" stroke and 4.00" bore which is more than adequate for a stock 6.0L block. Look into Texas-Speed or one of the other sponsors here on the board for a complete kit already balanced. It's much easier to buy a full stroker kit than it is to piece them together.

So what stroke will put me around the 427 area? Im for sure boring the 6.0 a little more than 4 inches. 650 to 700 rwhp is my majic number. i will be building this to drive and road coarse, and at first i wont have a supercharger on it. I dont want top have to pull the motor a second time when i do boost it.
