Default Valve Clearence???

I'm wondering if my valves are gonna clear if I mill my heads .030. They are the stock 241 casting heads and I'm running a .570/580 lift cam. Will the valves hit or clear??

What is the full .050 spec of the cam. Lift has almost nothing to do with PTVc.

lsa is the important factor on PVC

im running 243, mill 0.040 // .588 lift on 112 lsa // on a flat top piston , and have issues.

It is durations, LSA and ICL. Max lift occurs at or near BDC, while valve contact occurs at or near TDC.

Duration at .050 is 225/235 and the 114 LSA. This is on stock 99 flat top pistons.

As predator mentioned, the peak lift is not going to be an issue - the piston is several inches away down the bore at peak valve lift. In the end, you must physically check p2v if you want to ensure you have clearance. The majority of cams sold are too inconsistent to assume you'll be safe unless you are talking inordinately small grinds on very wide lobe separations. http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX...BilletCams.php More info on common tolerances if you are curious. Good luck!
