Trying to swap cams, picked up some 5/16" steel rod, one rod went in perfectly, the other (passenger side) won't get past the first lifter. I've spun the cam, I've looked down the oil passage to see where it's going and it looks like it's going by the correct portion of the lifter. These dowels were cut from the same steel rod so I don't believe it's a size issue, plus I've tapered the ends.

What's going on? The only thing I can think of is that the oil passage was mis-milled.

I believe that I ran the dowel(s) across the grinder to sorta flatten one side,worked perfect.
