Default Cam advice for 346 with Vic Jr

Hi Guys, need some advice for a novice from Australia. I currently have 346 standard bottom end with 232/234 113LSA cam,Patriot springs, CNC ported 243 heads with 40thou shave, YT Roller Rockers (1.7), 1 7/8" long headers, dual 2.5 exhaust, Cicle D 4200 stall & 3.7 diff gears. Have recently changed from LS6 manifold with ported throttle body to a Vic Jr with Fast 4150 throttle body. Lost about 13hp at wheels in low/mid range, but picked up about 16hp at top end but only from about 5800rpm onwards.

Wondering what would be a better cam to suit the Vic Jr, without fly cutting pistons? Car is only driven on street 1/month and drag raced a bit. Or do I just put a Fast 102 on it as it seems more suited to the cam I currently have. Thanks.

Cam is totally wrong for that intake.... you want a much bigger cam, and a tight lsa.

I have that exact same cam with no clearance problems, a guy here in another thread has that cam on a 112° LSA and he's seeing witness marks on the pistons on teardown. IMO, going bigger will definitely require checking.

Considering your heads are milled 40 thousandths most likely causing PTV problems with any bigger of a cam, I would think a Fast 102/102 would save time and money regaining that midrange power you lost but probably keep the 16hp up top too.

Otherwise flycut pistons and run a much bigger cam on 108/110lsa

who spec'd your cam? Just hoping to get a cam selection from a shop that has run the numbers with the single planes. Very few have done it well in Oz. Thanks
