Default Presoaking lifters?

I am about to install my new ls7 lifters in my 4.8, but I want to make sure I do it right. Would you guys recommend presoaking the lifters in oil overnight before installing them?

Having them full of oil certainly won't hurt, but you probably do not need overnight to get that done.

Well, my new cam doesn't come in until monday. I think I'm just gonna leave them completely submerged in oil until then. Thanks

Mine ended up soaking for over 2 days, took longer than expected to get the deck surfaces and bolt holes/threads cleaned and prepped.

I let mine soak overnight in oil but I'm sure that's overkill.

I usually only soaked them for 30-45 minutes and then put them in, haven't had an issue so far.

more than an hour is overkill, not like they are plants drinking water.

no such thing as overkill. if you have the time to let them soak for a month, do it. i would give them at least an hour or so though. you'll be able to see small air bubbles coming out of them for some time. i usually let them sit over night.

Presoaking makes sure the lifter is pumped up. There is no over-kill. Quickest way is to place the lifter in whatever fixture you can come up with to hold the part verticle, put that in a 2litre (or whatever fits with your fixture) cut in half, fill with oil, place under a drill press, chuck a pushrod up in the drill press, center the part up with the pushrod, and manually pump the lifter up til you see no air bubbles.

all you have to do is submerge them and then use a pushrod to pump them a few strokes.no soaking time required.
