Lq4 600 hp NA build help
Looking to build roughly 600 up lq4 na I know it won't be cheap! Power never is. I did a little search all I found was guys telling other guys they are dumb or full of it. This is going in a 95 mustang 400 turbo car. I looked at some tsp rotating assembly's cheap to expensive. Was wondering some ideas on what brand would take this abuse. Oh and this will be carbed. Wheel hp would be great but I know through stalled auto numbers are just numbers not results. I would have loved a TT set up but that just gets really expensive. I own my own auto repair shop have build a bunch of strong sbc and BBC but no LSx stuff. My last build was a blown 540 BBC so I am not dumb. Just only want to spend money one time on this LSx Thanks in advance. Oh and by the way was thinking 408 stoker
Probably the most popular combo would be Wiseco pistons and rings with Callies Compstar rods and crankshaft. 600hp at the crank would be easy with a 408 and a decent set of heads like TFS or even AFR.
I've been doing search after search after search and I've even posted myself a couple times asking basically the same thing as the OP in this thread and the responses are almost always minimal. Why is that? Is motor building a top secret thing or something? People don't like telling the recipe they used to get there?

600hp takes quite a bit of effort and money and even more in heads and cam and likely some good compression.
600 crank is roughly 500 rwhp in a stick car. 500 takes quite a large cam and compression to reach.
Even high 400s are fun and easier to reach. Trying to hit a number in your head doesnt always produce the results you desire. Bragging rights are kinda cliche also. and usually you sacrifice some bottom end to make that happen.
In a std 6.0 youd need some massive rpm and YUGE cam and heads to pull it off.
For reference ls3s can make 500+ rwhp but you're into them for heads, fast102 huge cam and power above 4k with not alot down low and lots of bucking and surging.

There's a lot of 500+ whp builds. My 517whp 416 is listed below. With more cam and Mamo ported intake ~ 550whp would probably be with in reach. The same basic parts other than pistons will work for a 500+whp 408.
Mild 500+ whp engine build
I'm a big fan of Callies Compstar crank, Callies rods & Wiseco pistons for stroker builds. Both my 416 and 383 used Callies & Wiseco. Probably do the same again with the 408 that's I'm the works now. K1 is also nice
