You can get a used trans for around 250-500$.
Or when/if it goes, get a built 3 sp.

if you aren't a total moron with the stock **** it will last. if you already have 323s, don't both swapping gears. 373s aren't worth the $/gain and anything steeper will put you in OD before the traps with any amount of power, which is not good on the trans, at all.
Ok. I'm going with a 3600 stall. What else do I need or can I use this in my stock transmission with stock shifter and an engine with 107,XXX miles on it?

Trans cooler.

Some will suggest a pan and shift kit along with a flex plate, I don't.

And with all the miles on my car, a yank 3600 won't break it... And what can I do to ensure nothing will break?

It might, it might not. If its going to go its going to go... Larger converter or stock.

To ensure your trans probably won't break you could build your trans or move to a built 3 sp.

You mod, **** break, period. Better get use to that fast. It is a very expensive hobby. You upgrade one thing, you have to upgrade or strengthen a minimum of 3 other things in most cases, aka supporting mods.

Just get a 3200 converter and a 224r and b done. Back when I had my lt1 when I was in highschool and I had the same rules where my dad didn't want me doing anything to the car. I bought the stuff and put it in when he wasn't around lol. Ur dad might be different, but mine usually found out about the mods later and thought it was cool lol. I did install a 2600 stall and a hotcam in my old lt1 car when I was 16. The cam he knew about the stall he did not. Now im 20 and I have to keep myself from modding and going broke lmao. BTW if the trans shop near you says a high stall converter will tear your trans up than they are ******* retarded lol.

Well how does the trans shop get around cars stalling when they put them in drive ? I would not recommend you doing these mods unless you know what your doing haha. Lemons 3spd? that would be good to drag but not daily drive!
9 second lt1 easy add 2 turbos

You have never seen a car with an auto trans and big cam stall when you shift from park to drive? My dads truck used to do it all the time because he had a mid 230s cam (cant remember lift and lsa) but every time he wold shift form park to drive it would stall because the rpms drop when you put it in gear, now he has a 3000 stall and everything works great.

This thread derailed. OP I would advise reading up in the AT section, learning about converters, and going at your dad with some knowledge ammo.
