Default what cam?

I currently own a 99 Trans am i bought the ms4 cam for (not doing research on it) and im not sure i want to go with that big of a cam. My question is selling this cam, what cam would work nicely with my 3600 stall and 3.73 gears. Im looking for an aggresive cam a little smaller than the ms4 that i can make significant hp out of but street worthy. Any ideas appreciated.

torquer v2 or v3 are the first ones to come to mind....you can't really go wrong with either......have you considered a custom grind, that's what i did and i'm really happy

I wouldnt know where to begin on a custom grind cam to be honest. Im pretty new to this and do not have enough knowledge of them to know what would make best performance.

Definetely sell the ms4 asap. You want a cam to match your stall. If you don't know already you will also need new valve springs, hardend pushrods, etc... I would say the above cams jc98ss mentioned are good recomendations. So something in the low 230's range is what I recomend with the 3600 stall. Do you have all your bolt-ons? You should list your mods in your sig so it will be easier for people to recomend a cam for you. Throwing a big cam in it is just stupid and your valvetrain will have to be changed out every 20k miles with an ms4. Getting a "cam kit" like from texas speed will save you alot of money rather than peicing one together.

^^this....there are several more mods necessary to make a cam work it's wonders......that's the cool thing about your bro's here on this site....most anyone who knows their stuff will help you out......just sit down and figure out exactly what you want out of the car when it's all said and done.....(daily driver with an attitude - you'll probably want to be around the 224 range, weekend warrior - low to mid 230's, or all out nastiness - 240+).....it helps to have a final goal for the car figured out.....Patrick G is one of the cam guru's, also Predator-Z.....both of these guys are very smart when it comes to LSx anything......cruise around the internal mods section, you'll see some cam talk........read up a bit, then drop one of these fellas a PM.

What rpm are you looking at turning (shift rpm)? And are you willing to replace your tranny if it breaks? You do have LTs and/or full exhaust correct?

Honestly I would not do any cam bigger then low 230s. Anymore then that and your combo is getting out of whack (technical term).

224r or 228r. You can still use behive springs with either. Unless you're doing ported heads, you won't see much improvement going with a bigger cam.

Over a 224 cam? Yes there is room for improvement even on stock heads.

A custom grind cam would give you the perfect choice for your setup.
However, you can go for something in the size of Street Sweeper, Tsunami, G5X3, ...

you should easily be mid 12's with the times in sig already. If you have some sticky tires... We are pretty close in mods and I ran 12.3's@110. That is with a best 1.78 60ft wich isn't that great. So when you get the cam you should be high mid-high 11's if everything is going good and your d/a is decent. Good luck

Can't go wrong with a Torquer v3. Love mine and it has good street manors. Picked up 13rwhp over the f13 I previously had in the car and I notice no difference in driveability between the two.
