Default Only making 370???

I have a 98A4 with dynotech LT's (open headers), screenless MAF sensor with MAF ends, 3.73's 10 bolt, stock TB, Z06 intake, Plug and wires, Comp 226/228 569/571 114LSA, stage 1.5 heads from a company out of Ft. Laturdale called Air flow Technology milled 30 thousands, comp 918's, a 3700 stall, air box and air lid. I am only making 370 RWHP after a ton of tuning and doing open headers. I picked up 20 with the open headers because I had Flowmaster on and it sucked.
My air fuel is 12.9-13.3 throughout the whole band, and peak was around 6150-6200RPM's. Leak down test was fine.
Any ideads why this setup makes so little power. (The cam was degreed so I know this isn't the problem.) I see most with stock heads and a smaller cam making more power. My Torque was impressive as I made 415, but the HP numbers are not so impressive. Any idea's?

It's an Auto man, who cares about the dyno numbers for A4's, take it to the track, that's what your going to hear. Auto's aren't dyno kings but they will rape a equivalent modded M6 in the 1/4.

By the look of how your tq was much higher then your hp, you must have dyno'd with your convertor unlocked. plus were the #'s SAE? IM sure those 2 things are the problem. post your graph.

It was SAE corrected.
I took it to the track, 12.47@110.
On a Drag slick and 15x10 Weld rims, and a *** load of suspension. Dead hooked and only a 1.78 60 ft.

Its low, Sorry but you could make way over 400rwhp. I make 402 with a 216/220 comp cam. I would say your heads are costing you (also Florida is humid). Also did you check your fuel pressure.

With that cam you should make 360-370 w/o heads.Try to find out the flow numbersof those heads.I would start looking at other cams. The 1320 time is too high. With traction mid-to high 11's shouldnt be a problem.

I agree. These heads are 2 years+ old and done from a company that's does a ton of heads but isn't very popular.
A buddy of mine has the same bolt on's same converter, stock heads and a Z06 cam and make 357. This is when I started wondering. Did the leakdown, had a retune etc.
This was on the same dyno 10 minutes apart. He only made 350 Torque though.

I know all cars are different, just cant figure out why my numbers are so low.
New cam and heads are on the way plus a 90mm intake and TB. And a 4200 Stall from Yank. Hopefully my numbers change quite a bit.

1.78 isnt dead hookin bro. hit up BMP on a SLICK night, not a crappy import street tire night. with a 4200 yank, et drags, and 370 something rwhp you should EASILY find 1.5s - locked your motor will gain 15 rwhp so that that into consideration. your mph is low as well. your shift points deadon? also a 415 rwtq sounds like a tq spike from the convertor flashing. good luck and get your car hooking and no so concerned with dyno. 4L60e is horrid for sucking up power. my car made around 365 rwhp unlocked but 380 rwhp locked on a dynojet.

Oh yeah they will!! But I think that 90mm TB and FAST is an overkill (especially your pocket). Just port the one you have, it is plenty for up to 600hp, and the Dif. between FAST and Z06 is minimal.
Forget the hype, go for the gutso (Better heads, MTI is who I recommend). A nice set of 5.3's stage 2 will kick *** with that cam.
Not to mention that this cam likes N2O.

dont know if this would help, but my bolt on 2002 WS6 has a TR224 114 cam in it and kooks long tubes with a kooks CATTED y-pipe (bolt ons were air lid, 160 stat, pulley, removed ram air baffles, tb bypass, oh yeah and a spec 3 clutch).

I dynoed 379.94rwhp and 367RWTQ (giving you SAE numbers here).
Im using stock heads and car was also tuned (A/F at 13.3).

Your torque sounds AWESOME but im not sure why your horsepower numbers are a little low. Perhaps because its an auto when mine is an M6?

Not trying to compare my car with yours or anything so dont get me wrong here. Just trying to help.

On my first run with that setup on nittos DR 275 40 17 in the back the best i ran on a 2.2 60 FT was a 12.8 at 115mph. Still not used to doing burnouts at the track and i sucked at the 1/4 mile run (i tapped the rev limiter in almost every gear because of the stupid slow tach not keeping up).

Im sure if you post your dyno graph and your time slip many people would be able to help you out with much better information. I definetly think theres something wrong especially because you mentioned your trap speed was only 110.

Let us know what happens and what your findings were. Good luck.
Hope this helps.

The 1.78 was dead hooking, however this wasn't with the 4200, it was with a 3700 stall from Midwest. I got rid of that verter and ordered a new 4200 and a 3500 from Yank. The 3500 is going in now until I get the new heads/cam/intake.TB on.
I run juice right now and will continue to use it until the new setup is installed. Then the juice will come off and a sweet H/C car will be alive.
Midwest isn't the best converter as I found out first hand. I ran exactly the same with a 2800 VIG. This being the reason I sold the midwest.

I ordered a set of AS stage 2.5 5.3 heads non milled, and a 232/238 111LSA cam.
Maybe I waisted the cash but have a set of 90mm Intake and TB coming as well.
Figured I would do it all. (I dont like loosing)
Thanks for the reply's, and as soon as I figure out how to put dyno sheets on here I will list them.

well again i dont want to judge your expertise here, but 1.78 is FAR from where you should if you are deadhooking on even a small 3700 rpm convertor. what pressure do you run your slicks? and PSJ, i believe this dyno was unlocked as he posted a 415 rwtq. no way your motor is making that kind of tq at the rear wheels without spiking the dyno, esp with that rwhp number. it just sounds like an under performing combo by about 20 rwhp. 110 mph traps is about right for a car making your power SHORTSHIFTING. you car should be making 112-113 mph minimum at stock weight.

also what size slicks, what psi do you run, shift points? and what was your 1/8 mph and et so we can figure out what is the deal.

Mph is a little low. My car ran 112 mph with just a cam (224) and crappy 3:23's. With heads, cam, and 3:73's I would have expected more like 114-117 MPH (heads and weather dependent) Could this car be knocking at the big end?

I run 26x10x15 Drag Slicks from MT with 10lbs of tire pressure and a 15x10 Weld wheel.
I also run a 200 shot right out of the whole and get 1.48-1.55 60ft times on the Nitrous. Trust me the damn thing hooks. I even hook on the street on motor after a burnout. Front left tire comes like 2 inches off on the Nitrous.
Shift points are at 6400 because of where I made peak power.
I will be at the track in 2 weeks and back on the dyno in a week and a half to see what difference a converter makes. I really believe the car will be faster on with the Yank. I think the midwest verter was killing my times. My tranny went out less than 40 miles after my dyno runs so I am hopeing the tranny was slipping and causing a lack of power. Only time will tell. I should have a dyno graph up tomorrow.
60ft 1.78
1/8 mile 7.97
1/8 MPH 84.5
1/4 mile 12.47
1/4 MPH 110.89
On the spray it runs 10.9's and better nearly every time. (150 shot) The 200 has only been ran a few times and only through the 1/8th.

Try a stock MAF (borrow one). I bet you'll go faster. I never had ANY ANY ANY luck with MAF ends, my A4 always went slower, no matter what I tried. Now both my LS1 cars have stock MAFs.
