MMS 388 Dyno Results As some of you know this has been a long and drawn out process. I have unfortunately had a bit of bad luck in my quest for big bore power. Fortunately I had a reputable shop behind me that was there to take care of all of the quirks as they arose. I can finally say that the project is for the time being finished. Now for the Specs:
MMS 388 Shortblock
MMS Stage III LS6 Heads
MMS Custom 242/242 .612/.612 111 lsa camshaft
Comp "R" Lifters
Stock Rockers
Stock fuel pump and injectors !!!
Dynatech 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 Stepped Headers with 3.5" Collectors and Custom 3.5" Y-Pipe by AAP (nice work Mark!!!)
No dyno tricks here...heavy 17X11 ZR1 rims, all pulleys and belts, ect were connected. I still have the stock rear...but that will be taken care of this week by AAP.

Once again I would like to thank MMS for bearing with my demands during this process. Things took longer than either of us anticipated, but in the end you can see that it was well worth the wait. I think that they have been more than fair and extremely accomodating through the entire process and genuinely care that their customers feel well taken care of. I would also like to take a moment to thank Mark from AAP who has been great to me as both a resource for parts and service as well as a friend.

Re: MMS 388 Dyno Results I am going to run 4.30 gears along with 28" slicks. Trust me it doesn't feel peaky. The advantage of the bigger motor is that you can run alot more cam and still have torque down low. It stomps the H/C setup with the 229 cam everywhere. My prior setup with the smaller 229 cam in the 388 had more tq from 3k-4.5k but it didn't make near as much power under the curve. At the track the rpms will never go below 4.5k which is the tq peak. I wanted to make 500+ hp and MMS delivered. The rpm range is great for the track. If I was building more of a street car I would suggest a smaller cam.

Re: MMS 388 Dyno Results The cam idles suprisingly well. It starts right up and idles rock solid at 950 once warmed up. I think we can drop the idle a little bit for more of a lumpy sound...but I don't think Mike wanted it to stall on me. I am happy with the idle the way it is for now...I am just going to enjoy having 500+rwhp from my little NA motor. Who needs a super-stroker to make 500hp anyway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Do you know what compression you are running? also are the valves 2.05/1.60? How streetable is the car right now?
Getting a 382 myself, but I dont think I would be lookingat numbers that high.

Re: MMS 388 Dyno Results We are only running 11.3:1 compression (0.54 headgaskets). The heads have 2.10/1.60 valves as far as I know. Hopefully Mike (MMS) will chime in here with some comments at some point. The car is extremely streetable right now. It isn't exactly fun in rush hour traffic, but that has more to do with the RAM clutch than the motor. With a smaller 229 cam I think it would be in the 480-490 hp range and have a little bit more low end and better part throttle manners. I love it the way it is, but I might be more tolerant than some of you guys.

Do yourself a favor and put a decent exhaust system on the car. It's a shame that your losing almost 25 RWHP due to a poor exhaust system.
