Default H/C combo

Hey guys, here this next spring I am going to do a heads and cam swap, I have pretty much narrowed it down to tsp 228r or the torquer v2 cam with ls6 2.5 heads or going with a custom eps cam around the 226/234 duration specs and finding some 243's and sending them off to get ported by AI. My question for everyone is that I will still be using the stock 10 bolt on street 275 tires. How well do you guys think the rear will hold up as I continue to use these street tires? Eventually I will upgrade to a 9 inch but thats down the road. Also would it be wise to do any suspension upgrades to prevent breaking the rear? Thanks guys I look forward to hearing any input!

If you mainly do roll racing then your 10 bolt will be fine. If you launch out of the hole a lot, either on the street or track(If your car is dead hooking), then thats where things start to fail.
Looks like a good set-up you have planned. Good luck man and keep us updated.

Ive still got my stock rear and believe it or not stock clutch still going on 7k miles with my setup..car makes 420 hp 396ftlb. on dyno.
ls6 intake, Dart heads , 224/226 114 custom cam, pacesetter Lt's etc.

I havent run it at the track yet and rarely launch it tho, but ive been beating on it for at least 2 years and its held up..

this winter i'm def getting a clutch and flywheel setup tho

The stock clutch is why your rear is still holding. Come spring the grabby clutch be a lot harder on it.

Yup

Back to the OP. We all know the 10 bolts are weak, once we start to get anything over 350 RWHP. It was said earlier, keep heavy hitting on the rolling. Also somethings you might want to look into (and no one has responded to the OQ) is LCA relocation brackets. It'll keep things planted better for the time being, and they can be a direct transfer to a 12 bolt or a 9in, once you go that route.

Pls let us know what you run with that 228r cam. I'm thinking of running a set up fairly close to yours. Thanks

I havent decided for sure yet on which cam, I also like the 226/234 and the 230/234 eps cams. I need to do some more research on them and see if they will clear without having flycutt the pistons with ported 243 heads. Ideally I would like to find some used 243's and send them off to AI and let them shape em up! They have but putting up impressive numbers lately.
