LS1 Recommendations
1. F body fitment.
2. Power band to be from 2000 to 6500 rpm.
3. CA legal.
4. RWHP 500 to 550.
Stroked LS3 would be an alternative as well. Not as much power as path above but less money.
Don't forget your drivetrain and suspension will need upgrades at this power level. What kind of budget are you working from?
I felt that much RWHP would be near impossible here in CA.
Maybe focusing on stock cubes with head / cam / induction development and see what it brings.
Passing CA smog is the tough one.
I figure the cost of buying or re-building an LS1 would be my maximum dollar investment.
Being able to change the induction system and keep cats in the stock location would probably be passible IF I design her to live in the stock RPM range.

Certain responsibilities have kept me here for sometime or I would have been gone long ago.
For now, I'll just see how far I can go before the smog ***** start peeking over the fence.
This site should have some sticky on the "ultimate CA smog LS1" lol.
All these sharp LS1 minds could put together a nice pump that would give the CA smog ***** fits but, pass with ease...
