timing chains and asp pully

if i get a double chain, what will i ahve to do to make my asp pully fit on?? i heard you have to notch some of the pully out? is this true? if so how would be the easiest way of doing this? or do you think i should just get the single chain

Buddy of mine just got his asp pulley and yes it had to be machined this past weekend when he did his h/c setup. I went with the rollmaster single as I didn't wanna deal with this problem.

Is it possible he bought a "new" pulley that was sitting on some vendors shelf for a few months or so?

some guys are takin' off 7 thou. with a file,don't know if this is needed for sure but i did it as Allan from FMS advised??? this is with rollmaster double.

He got it from Texas Speed last week so I doubt it was sitting too long on the shelf. As stated above, it seems to be a hit or miss problem.

If you can do this with a file you should be making a living doing ice sculptures. I put mine on a lathe. You go back to the first step on the pulley hub and mill the step down until it is flush with the hub that goes inside of the pump. This is where the interference will happen if you have clearance issues due to the double row chain. I took off approx 4mm of the step, but you need to check to be sure you take off the right amount. You need to take off an amount equal to the thickness of the spacer that is used with the double row chain. You should check to be sure you don't mill one that has already had the step shaved back if ASP is selling them with the mod already done.
