Here's me: 383 forged stroker, 9.7:1, mid-range 224/228 cam, Stg 2 Heads (cheap but durable). With that I get great torque now N/A - maybe 480 (where it's at on the street), no worries about probs with bigger bore, and about 7 psi next Dec (bottle doesn't go dry). All very conservative. That should be good for around 600 wheel hp boosted on pump gas. Not too shabby for a conservative daily driver setup, IMO. But that's just me!

Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the belt. I've had SC on the street for 3 years now and the belt has never been a prob. Of course you have to check it! You check your oil, don't you?

Its not a problem unless at the track.

Pretty much the majority of C5s I know of with a Procharger or Vortech have had belt issues when using sticky tires at the track.

So how much does a 383 stroker with forged internals (crank, rods, pistons) with Stag 2/3 Heads and Cam run these days?

I was looking for something NA that produces a shitload of torque, but I am not opposed to running 9-14PSI if the motor can handle it.

anyone run the MTI 387 all bore or the 393 stroker at the track and get good times? :-)

Better yet can I beat a stock 03-04 SRT-10 viper with one of these?

Thanks

Since you said that you want more torque, and mostly street, I would go with the stroker. No sleeves to worry about either. For the track, I would want an all bore. For me the all bore would be my choice. One thing about a bunch of torque, you have to be able to hook it. Sometimes having a bit less torque down low can be a good thing. Get the tires planted before the power comes on hard.

What do you think about MTI`s 408 all bore! Just 300 more than there 387 and 383! I`m sure the power is pretty good!

I will be building an aluminum 408 in an LS2 block with LS2 intake and 90mm ported TB should be a lot lighter than an iron 408 considering the ls2 block is lighter than the ls1. This is still two years away though, but its a for sure build! Shooting for more hp than the Futral 408 just dynoed at 563 rwhp all motor.

The 408 isnt and all bore, it is an Iron 6 liter block with already starts its life as a 4" Bore, the Ls1 starts life as a 3.890 bore I cant remember off the top of my head but to get 408ci they bore the block to 4.03 and put a 4" crank (same crank that is used in a 382 stroker)

So Basically the 408 is 4.03 Bore w/ 4.00 Stroke (Iron Block)
The All bore motor is 4.125 bore w/ 3.622 stroke (Aluminum Block)
The 382 Stroker is 3.903 Bore w/ 4.00 Stroke (Aluminum Block)

Personally, I would take the 387 All-Bore Short-Block, top it off with a nice set of LS6 heads, and then spray the house down.
